Lunch at Castell Coch with Duncan and a good explore of the lovely interior. Sadly the castle wasn’t really used much. The Marquess of Bute was more interested in building it than living in it. Freezing cold day today, which made the castle less inviting than it could have been.
Now on our way to the opera in Cardiff.
This time a Chimay Red (for Michael) and I followed the theme with one of the delicious Meantime Brewery Yakima Red, brewed in Greenwich.
Polished off another two of the Belgian beers fron Nuala and Joel.
Orval had a lovely aged flavour, and slightly cloudy. Very good.
Jupiler was clean and slightly maltier than I was expecting. It also came in a smaller bottle.
We’re having lunch in Boca on Cheltenham Road. The warm beer, with a hint of cloves and honey, is good. Not sweet and remarkably fizzy. I like the pink straws.
Fridsy night is beer night. Having the next lovely bottles of Belgian beer from Nuala and Joel. First off, Rodenbach Original, which is very fruity and also dark and a bit sweet. Sadly only 250ml, so gone in a gulp between Michael and I.
Moved on to St Bernardus, dark, yeasty and a bit stronger.
