Posted in Civil partnership We’ve ordered our rings
Ordered the rings today from the jeweller on Green Street, Harriet Kelsall Jewellery Design. Our final design is far from our original ideas.
We had a final run around a few jewellers that we hadn’t been to. Mappin and Web were the worst in terms of service and selection—although they’d be good if you wanted a very traditional plain band. Primavera had a very interesting and affordable collection of wedding bands which all used white and yellow gold, which were all £220. There was a huge range of other individual jewellery in the shop a lot of it just daily wear, but some that would have made nice rings. We both liked a silver ring with a tourmaline inset, in silver. But it did look like a dress ring.
Michael has had a few e-mails with the helpful staff at Harriet Kelsall and they’ve been working to our budget, now that we have one! I won’t say too much about what we’ve about what we’ve ordered, but I’ll post a photo and description later. Today was the last ordering day before Christmas, so we’ve ordered in loads of time for February.

[...] Nuala was the ring bearer and brought our rings forward for the exchange of rings. I teased her over lunch because Michael and I ended up wearing each others rings! She saw it happening (not her fault) and had to bite her tongue during the exchange of rings. Michael’s ring is half a size smaller than mine, so Nuala was right not to panic. We got our rings made at Harriet Kelsall Jewellery Design. They are rose gold (gold and copper) so they are warmer looking than pure gold or white gold. To make the rings more individual we had a tiny pink sapphire set inside each, which just shows in the photograph. The brushed finish on the outside will wear to a shinier finish—I think all rings wear to the same finish with time. [...]
